Small Group Time
Small Groups is an essential and transforming event at the convention. Yes, the speakers are awesome, the music is fantastic, and the seminars challenge. But! All these experiences come into focus during Small Groups. The purpose of each small group consisting of 6-8 youth is to build relationship; with each other, and with our loving God. It's an opportunity to build community in an intimate and relevant way.
What is a Small Group Leader?
- Someone who loves God, someone who loves youth
- Someone who has unconditional positive regard for youth
- Someone who has the ability to be empathic, non judgmental, accepting and respects youth
- Someone who cares and puts thought and effort into Small Group time making it meaningful and memorable for about 30-45 minutes after worship times (or designated small group time)
- Someone who prays, cheerleads, affirms and is willing to share the joys and the struggles of life
- Someone who is able to ask open ended questions and is not afraid of silence
- Someone who can say "I don't know, but I'll try to find out"
- Someone who recognizes the Holy Spirit is at work in and through them
- Someone who sees youth as God sees them
What is a Group Leader Coach? (formerly known as ADL)
- Someone who loves God and prays
- Someone who will cheerlead Small Group Leaders and get information for them if necessary
- Someone who will be responsible for about 5-6 Small Groups leaders
- Someone who will visit each Small Group in their care, to take attendance and step into the Small Group Leader role, if there is a difficulty
- Someone who makes it their responsibility to find youth that are missing from Small groups, so that the Small Group Leader can concentrate on those who are present and on time
